TESGuessr is a free fan game. You can play everything without an account. We keep only what the game needs to work: a random code for your browser, your scores, and your septims. We don’t store your address, show ads, use tracking cookies or analytics scripts, or sell anything about you.
Who we are
TESGuessr (tesguessr.com) is an unofficial fan project, run by one person. If you have a question about your data, write to [email protected].
Playing as a guest
The first time you play, your browser makes a random code. It isn’t linked to your name or your device. It is saved in your browser’s local storage, and the server keeps only a salted hash of it. Along with that hash, the server keeps:
- your adventurer’s name and four-digit tag, picked at random by the game from a fixed list (you can’t type your own);
- your games: daily runs, guesses and scores, casual games, and the Arena fights you backed and watched;
- your septims and every change to them (septims are play money and can’t be bought or cashed out);
- anything you get with septims: fight requests, fighters and fighter cards;
- problem reports: one click on a fixed category, with the place and the direction you were facing. Reports never contain free text.
Your browser also keeps your settings and small markers, such as which dailies you’ve played and whether you’ve seen the help. These stay on your device and are not cookies.
Your internet address
We never store your IP address. To count reports fairly and to limit abuse (for example, at most three ranked runs per address per day), the server turns your address into a salted hash that changes every day, so it can’t be traced back to you or matched across days.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which handles every request to deliver and protect the site. We see only Cloudflare’s overall traffic totals, such as page views per day, never anything about individual visitors. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Signing in with Google or Discord (optional)
An account lets you keep the same adventurer on more than one device. When you sign in, your current guest adventurer becomes your account, with the same name, tag, septims and history.
-
Google: we ask only for sign-in (the
openidscope) and keep only Google’s account number for you. We never ask for your email address, name or photo. -
Discord: we ask only for the
identifyscope and keep only your Discord user ID. We don’t keep your username, avatar or email, and we can’t see your messages or servers. - We don’t keep Google’s or Discord’s access tokens after you finish signing in.
- Signing in sets two cookies on tesguessr.com: a sign-in cookie that lasts 10 minutes while you go to Google or Discord and back, and a session cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. Both are used only to keep you signed in.
The TESGuessr Discord server. If you connect Discord and you’re already a member of the TESGuessr server, our bot gives you the Linked Adventurer role. If you tick the box, it also sets your server nickname to your adventurer’s name and tag, once. The bot never adds you to the server. Removing Discord from your account doesn’t take the role or nickname away; ask in the server or write to us.
What other people can see
Leaderboards, Arena boards and records show your adventurer’s name and tag with your scores, and so do the daily results we post to the TESGuessr Discord server and the Arena’s live stream. Your Google or Discord identity never appears there. A fight you request shows your adventurer’s name on its title card.
Who else gets your data
No one, except the services that run the site: Cloudflare hosts the site, its database and its files, and Google or Discord take part when you choose to sign in with them. Links to Ko-fi, Discord, Nexus Mods and other sites take you to those sites, and their own privacy policies apply there.
How long we keep it
- Sign-in records expire after 10 minutes. Sessions expire after 30 days, or end when you sign out.
- Scores, septims, Arena history and reports: kept while the game runs, because leaderboards, records and shared Arena winnings depend on them.
Your choices
- You never have to sign in.
- Clearing this site’s data from your browser removes your guest code. Your old guest records then can’t be linked to you any more.
- In the account menu you can disconnect a provider, sign out everywhere, or delete your account. Deleting your account removes your Google and Discord links and all your sessions. Your old games stay only under an anonymous code that is no longer linked to you, so the boards and other players’ winnings stay correct.
- To see, correct or remove your data, write to [email protected] with your adventurer’s name and tag. We’ll answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.
Children
TESGuessr isn’t aimed at children under 13 and never asks for anyone’s real name, age or contact details.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update it here and change the date at the top.
